Hello, my name is Joanna Mittal, and I'm a passionate and energetic Canadian English teacher with over five years of experience designing engaging, student-focused lessons. My goal is to help learners of all ages gain confidence and improve fluency through personalized instruction.
I believe in creating a supportive and interactive learning environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions, make mistakes, and, most importantly, have fun while learning. I use a mix of methods and materials tailored to each student's needs, whether that’s through conversation practice, vocabulary building, or practical exercises to strengthen reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
With a background in both design and education, I bring a creative approach to my teaching, always looking for new ways to make lessons enjoyable and relevant to real-life situations. I’ve had the privilege of working with learners from diverse backgrounds and age groups, and my experience ranges from teaching children in summer camps to helping adult learners refine their conversation skills.
I’m excited to work with students who are eager to improve their English and develop the skills they need for academic, professional, or everyday success. Together, we’ll build your language skills in a way that suits your unique style and goals.

In this course, students will receive tailored lessons designed to boost their confidence, improve fluency, and enhance their practical communication skills in all areas of English. As a Canadian English tutor, I focus on a holistic approach to learning, which encompasses the four essential language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Each lesson is structured to be interactive, with a variety of activities that are both engaging and relevant to real-world contexts. Whether it's through conversation practice, writing exercises, or listening comprehension tasks, the focus is on helping students build confidence in their ability to use English naturally and effectively in everyday situations.
Course Flow:
Reading & Writing: We’ll focus on building vocabulary, improving grammar, and enhancing writing skills, from casual emails to more formal writing tasks. Reading comprehension exercises will help students understand diverse texts, from news articles to literature.
Listening & Speaking: Emphasis will be placed on developing listening skills with diverse audio materials, including Canadian media content. In speaking, students will practice pronunciation, fluency, and articulation, gaining confidence through guided conversations on a wide range of topics.
Teaching Style and Methods:
I employ a communicative teaching approach, encouraging students to speak and practice as much as possible. Lessons are personalized to meet each student's specific needs, whether they are beginners or advanced learners. I use a mix of materials including online resources, textbooks, and real-life scenarios. I believe in creating a comfortable and supportive environment where students can learn at their own pace, ask questions, and experiment with language without fear of making mistakes.
