Hello! I'm Melfren, a passionate and versatile English teacher based in Taichung. Whether you are a parent looking for a patient tutor for your child, or a professional aiming to advance your career, I am here to guide you.
My Teaching Philosophy I believe that successful learning begins with empathy and connection. My philosophy is rooted in "Empathic Communication", a skill I have honed through professional training. I understand that learning a new language can be intimidating, which is why I prioritize creating a safe, judgment-free environment where mistakes are seen as stepping stones to success. I adapt my pace to yours, ensuring you feel confident and supported every step of the way.

Top-Tier Qualifications: I am a TEFL-Certified (120 Hours) teacher and a Magna Cum Laude graduate. I am also currently a Master’s student in Smart Manufacturing and Applied Information Science, so I bring a high level of academic discipline to our lessons.
Diverse Experience: I have a proven track record teaching all ages in Taiwan. I currently teach children at Sesame Street English and mentor university students as a Teaching Assistant at National Chin-Yi University of Technology.
Real-World Business Expertise: Unlike many tutors, I have years of corporate experience as an Administrative Officer and Budget Analyst. This allows me to teach Business English effectively, helping you master email writing, negotiations, and formal presentations.

As a TEFL-certified teacher (120 Hours) and a Magna Cum Laude graduate, I understand the discipline required to master a subject. I utilize Empathic Communication, a skill I honed through professional training, to lower student anxiety and build confidence. My methods differ based on the learner:
For Children: I use Total Physical Response (TPR) and interactive visual aids, drawing on my experience at Sesame Street English where I conduct tutoring and lesson planning for elementary students.
For Adults/Professionals: I use a "Communicative Language Teaching" (CLT) approach, focusing on real-world application. My background in Government Management and IT/Smart Manufacturing allows me to teach specialized vocabulary for business, technical meetings, and presentations effectively.
Course Flow
Every course is structured to ensure measurable progress, mirroring the systematic analysis I apply in my Master's studies:
Needs Assessment: We start by discussing your goals (e.g., passing TOEIC, improving business emails, or conversational fluency).
Customized Learning Plan: I design a curriculum tailored to your proficiency level. For exam prep, we focus on specific test strategies; for conversation, we focus on pronunciation and flow.
Interactive Session: Lessons are student-led with high "Student Talking Time." I guide you through corrections gently to ensure you feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
Feedback & Monitoring: Just as I record performance for parents at Sesame Street and assess college students at NCUT, I provide regular feedback on your progress to keep you on track.

Supportive & Patient: I know what it is like to be a language learner (I am currently learning Chinese! ), so I am extremely patient with beginners.
Detail-Oriented: My experience as an Administrative Officer and Budget Analyst has trained me to be meticulous. I will help you refine your grammar and pronunciation down to the smallest detail.
Professional yet Engaging: I maintain a professional demeanor but ensure the atmosphere remains light and encouraging.
